A total of 68 teams representing the islands' top clubs are competing in the 2017 US Club Soccer Hawaiʻi State Cup this weekend (April 14-16)—at the Waipiʻo Peninsula Soccer Complex on Oʻahu. Title winners (13-U and above) will gain direct berth to US Club Soccer's National Cup XVI Finals at Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana—offered at no additional cost to players. US Club Soccer's National Cup Finals is the culminating event of five regional competitions and a dozen qualifying state cups—such as NorCal, New York, and the Hawaiʻi State Cup.
The US Club Soccer Hawai'i State Cup is a designated PDP/id² Program event. Throughout the tournament, US Club Soccer/U.S. Soccer Staff will be scouting the top 2003 through 2005-born talent—as recommended by their coaches—for potential invites to Hawai'i's PDP Camp this fall. The 2017 PDP will be US Club Soccer's third PDP/id² Program specific event in Hawai'i. Since 2015, a total of 22 players were called up to attend the next-level id² Training Camp in Arizona. Of those Top-22, Tommy Musto (FA Maui '03B) , and Logan Calpito (Hawaii Rush SC '04B) were selected as elite members of the 2016 and 2017 id² National Selection International Tours to Spain (respectively).
